“Beautiful Condo with Breathtaking Views”
This penthouse at the top of the Sapphire is undoubtedly the most beautiful in South Padre. The views of the beach and the bay are terrific and the condo is so well furnished with every amenity, we did not want to leave. There were favorites for everyone in the family – sparkling pools, sand castle lessons, a clean beach, convenient fishing and water sports, and amazing sunsets. We look forward to returning for another relaxing experience soon.
I spent 5 nights in Sapphire Condos unit #1901 with two young children and two older parents in Thanksgiving weekend 2009. We chose Sapphire because it was very spacious and we got a great off season rate of 5 nights for price of 3 rate.
We also wanted to make sure we had access to a heated pool. Sapphire guests get to use the adjacent Sheraton’s facilities. The Sheraton has a large resort type pool but only heats the swim up bar area pool which is about 45 by 15 feet roughly. nice and warm and good enough for the kiddos to play around. In the hottest days of our visit (80 degrees) , our kiddos played around in the cold main pool. The Sapphire and Sheraton have decent hot tubs, with the Sapphire being very large and very warm.
The photos of the Sapphire on their website are an accurate representation of the quality of the place. The photos of the gym are misleading however in that it is three times the size it appears to be with beautiful brand new high end state of the art equipment; ellipticals, weight machines, treadmills and a yoga room, all facing the pool area. The Sapphire is very new, opened in April 2009 and is still working out some kinks, the elevators would act up from, time to time for example. But nothing vacation shattering. Our unit, 1901, is on one of two floors that have units with crazy high 12 foot ceilings with 9 foot windows. Very dramatic. Also this unit has balconies on east and west side so you can see sunrise and sunset. Very nice touch.
The staff representing our unit at Coastal Lifestyles was phenomenal, the condo was fairly well equipped but was missing, of all things, a corkscrew. They appeared in 30 minutes at 7 PM on Thanksgiving eve with one. I informed them of a problem with a windowshade not going all the way up, and they came out and had it fixed on Thanksgiving Day. Not necessary, but appreciated.
We typically stay at Bridgepoint and love the spacious rooms along with the large windows which provide bay and beach views. We decided to try The Sapphire due to the newness and the large, updated pool.
We check into a two bedroom condo at the Sapphire on a Sunday – non-functional things in our room, blinds broken, etc. Coastal upgraded us to a nicer room. That evening the power went out on part of the island. The Sapphire emergency generator was dead so there were people stuck on the elevator for hours. Many checked out. The next evening due to the power outage, our fire/smoke alarm in our room continued to go off for two hours. Coastal sent people out to repair the electrical issue. The following afternoon a baby pooped in the pool so the pool was closed that evening and early the next morning. The remainder of our stay was excellent due to Coastal.
Sapphire review: Pros: Very modern, nice workout room, theater, and teen center. Fantastic pool, modern rooms – very clean without carpet for all the germ phobes. Very family oriented. Probably one of the nicest places to stay on the island.
Cons: The pool bar was closed, no music outside, not very lively like many other destinations. The workout facility has nice machines but no towels, water, sound on the tvs – no headsets provided. No ice machines on the premises. You have to rent the beach umbrellas 30/daily – unlike Bridgepoint next door. The umbrellas are included.
Coastal review: Although we had many problems upon our arrival, our rental management company, Coastal was so attentive and took care of our problems – many out of their control. Debbie of Coastal (one of the owners) extended our stay, delivered a gift to our room :-), and made sure we were 100°/o satisfied. No matter where you stay on the island, Coastal will lead you in the right direction and take care of you during your stay. They made our experience so enjoyable and their staff is attentive and catering. I am not sure it would have been the same had we not booked our vacation through Coastal. I will book through them again regardless of where we stay. The problems we encountered were out of their control, although they took responsibility and made things right!
We love South padre Island, and love Sapphire Condominium. This place is first class all the way…Beautiful infinity pool, hot tub, top of the line gym, and spa service on site. The concierge and 24 hrs. service of Coastal Life Style is top notch.
Our favorite condo is #1101. It s in the corner, has the best view …You can see the ocean from every corner … the balconies, the living room, the kids bed room, the kitchen, and the master bedroom. We feel relaxed and renewed after returning from our vacation. The condo is tastefully decorated like a 5 star hotel, very well kept and clean. We have a large family and we cooked our meals with plenty of kitchen utensils… The condo is well stocked with everything you need and more… We love to BBQ in the back balcony and watch the sunset in the evening ..its paradise!!! Our kids love to go to Schlitterbahn and it’s right next door to the condo… The location is great, close to many great restaurants and can see fireworks from the back balcony.
Stay here, you won’t regret it!!! This condo is brand new, we look forward to return every year and stay in the same unit for our yearly vacation.
Room Tip: unit 1101 has great views of the ocean, can see fireworks from back balcony.
